{"id":10343,"date":"2019-01-09T17:12:57","date_gmt":"2019-01-09T15:12:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/openasia.org\/en\/?p=10343"},"modified":"2019-01-09T17:12:57","modified_gmt":"2019-01-09T15:12:57","slug":"press-release-5th-international-simorgh-peace-prize-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/openasia.org\/en\/2019\/01\/press-release-5th-international-simorgh-peace-prize-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Press Release  5th International Simorgh Peace Prize awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Kabul-Paris, 8 December 2018<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Armanshahr Foundation\/OPEN ASIA lauded the awardees of the 5<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b><sup>th<\/sup><\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b> International Simorgh Peace Prize today, marking the 70<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b><sup>th<\/sup><\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b> anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the commencement of the 6<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b><sup>th<\/sup><\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b> \u201cHuman Rights Week\u201d of Armanshahr, <\/b><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><b>in Kabul<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>. This year\u2019s Simorgh Peace Prize centred on the motto of \u201cMy ideal city\u201d and the awardees received the Festival\u2019s statute and prizes during a warm ceremony.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Marking the International Day of Peace in 2017, Armanshahr Foundation\/OPEN ASIA had called on pupils from schools across Afghanistan, from Herat to Kandahar, to submit their works of poetry, stories and drawings based on the motto of \u201cMy ideal city\u201d for the 5<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> International Simorgh Peace Prize.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">From among 2,000 drawings and texts in Persian and Pashto, 33 works were selected, which are currently being published over 33 days, as a clear message in praise of peace and abhorrence for war, as part of \u201c<\/span><span class=\"s4\">My ideal city campaign<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u201d. A selection of the submitted drawings have been published, together with poems from the Caravan of <\/span><span class=\"s5\">Light<\/span><span class=\"s1\">, in a book with the title of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/openasia.org\/item\/19798\/%25d8%25b4%25d9%2587%25d8%25b1-%25d8%25b1%25d9%2588%25db%258c%25d8%25a7%25db%258c%25db%258c-%25d9%2585%25d9%2586-%25da%25af%25d8%25b2%25db%258c%25d8%25af%25d9%2587-%25d8%25b4%25d8%25b9%25d8%25b1-%25d9%2588-%25d9%2586%25d9%2582%25d8%25a7%25d8%25b4%25db%258c\/\"><span class=\"s4\">My ideal City<\/span><\/a>\u201d in Afghanistan in 2017. Furthermore, this book formed the basis for a short documentary film \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?feature=youtu.be&amp;v=xzhh3jZNOXA&amp;app=desktop\"><span class=\"s4\">My ideal City<\/span><\/a>\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">For this edition of the 5<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> International Simorgh Peace Prize, five schools from Kabul, Herat and Kandahar provinces were selected as the awardees of the lapis lazuli Simorgh Peace Statute. Nayba Hakimi<\/span><span class=\"s1\">, 16 years old, Malali High School, Kandahar<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Armanshahr Foundation\/OPEN ASIA established the <a href=\"https:\/\/openasia.org\/item\/category\/simorgh-peace-prize\/\"><span class=\"s4\">International Simorgh Peace Prize<\/span><\/a> at the heart of Asia (the three neighbouring countries Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan) in 2009. Around 1,000 works were submitted for the 1<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>st<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> edition, during which poets and writers working for peace by combatting war, violence and militarism through literature received awards. In the 2<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>nd<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> edition, independent publishers of Afghanistan, the National Library of Tajikistan as well as the Ministry of Culture of Tajikistan \u2013 for establishing a large house for books and its publishing activities \u2013 were lauded. In the 3<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>rd<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> edition, the awardees were musicians who have been winning hearts of their audiences by sowing the seeds of peace and affection.
