UNAMA has not\u00a0yet received a copy of the delegation\u2019s report.<\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #222222;\">UNAMA welcomes the establishment of the delegation and its work.<\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #222222;\">As reported, the delegation stated it found the existence of torture and ill-treatment of Afghan\u00a0detainees at the time of arrest and during investigation by Afghan police and national security\u00a0officials. The delegation reported that almost 48 per cent of those interviewed had said they\u00a0were tortured, and 66 per cent said they had no access to defence lawyers. The delegation\u00a0proposed 11 recommendations to relevant Afghan institutions to address torture, ill-treatment\u00a0and prolonged illegal detention.<\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #222222;\">UNAMA welcomes the Government\u2019s attention and increased efforts to address this serious\u00a0problem in Afghan detention facilities.
