{"id":5043,"date":"2014-11-11T06:31:12","date_gmt":"2014-11-11T04:31:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/openasia.org\/en\/?p=5043"},"modified":"2014-11-11T06:31:12","modified_gmt":"2014-11-11T04:31:12","slug":"afghanistan-fidh-supports-the-international-womens-film-festival-herat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/openasia.org\/en\/2014\/11\/afghanistan-fidh-supports-the-international-womens-film-festival-herat\/","title":{"rendered":"Afghanistan: FIDH supports the International Women\u2019s Film Festival \u2013 Herat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Soirce: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fidh.org\/en\/asia\/afghanistan\/16405-afghanistan-fidh-supports-the-international-women-s-film-festival-herat\">FIDH<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #111111;\">FIDH is proud to support for the second consecutive year the International Women\u2019s Film Festival &#8211; Herat, to be held from 8 to 12 November 2014 in Herat, Afghanistan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/openasia.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/arton16405-fa263.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5044\" src=\"https:\/\/openasia.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/arton16405-fa263.jpg\" alt=\"arton16405-fa263\" width=\"550\" height=\"365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/openasia.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/arton16405-fa263.jpg 550w, https:\/\/openasia.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/arton16405-fa263-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/openasia.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/arton16405-fa263-240x159.jpg 240w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #111111;\">Organized by Armanshahr Open Asia, FIDH\u2019s member organization in Afghanistan, and Roya Film House, the festival will present 42 films in official competition that were either created by women or that speak about women\u2019s rights. 16 other films will also be screened outside of the competition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #111111;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;<i>This festival is an excellent opportunity to highlight the vital roles of women in society, and some of the struggles that women face in Afghanistan and around the world<\/i>,&#8221;<\/span>\u00a0said Karim Lahidji, FIDH president.\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&#8220;<i>Respect for women\u2019s rights is essential to a well-functioning and peaceful society, and FIDH is proud to be part of this groundbreaking initiative.<\/i>&#8220;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #111111;\">The first festival was inaugurated on 8 March 2013, on the occasion of International Women\u2019s Day. 36 movies were screened and more than 1500 people attended the event, including many Afghan women.
