Her family emigrated to the United States when she was very young. Darine her MFA in screenwriting and film directing and wrote and directed a number of short films. In 2010, she founded Cinephilia Productions in New York City, an independent film production company focused on producing content from the MENA region. She is a writer, director as well as a published playwright, and poet. Her work appeared in various publications in the US and the UK. Darine Hotait\u2019s films include \u201cBeirut Hide and Seek\u201d, \u201cThe Far Side of Laughter\u201d, \u201cCommand or Truth\u201d, and \u201cAshur\u201d. Her film \u201cORB\u201d (a narrative science fiction) is in pre-production stage. Her short films have won prestigious awards at international film festivals, including \u2039EMMY award Finalist\u203a, \u2039Best Short Film at Evolution FF, \u2039Audience Award\u203a at Zero FF, \u2039Nominated for a Best Foreign Film\u203a at International Filmmaker Festival, \u2039Honorable Mention\u203a at the Los Angeles International FF, among others.
