{"id":8735,"date":"2017-11-16T18:27:52","date_gmt":"2017-11-16T16:27:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/openasia.org\/en\/?p=8735"},"modified":"2017-11-20T12:08:27","modified_gmt":"2017-11-20T10:08:27","slug":"call-for-submission-5th-international-womens-film-festival-herat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/openasia.org\/en\/2017\/11\/call-for-submission-5th-international-womens-film-festival-herat\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Submission: 5th International Women\u2019s Film Festival &#8211; Herat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/openasia.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/23561756_879228322258643_8475993347766105483_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8736\" src=\"https:\/\/openasia.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/23561756_879228322258643_8475993347766105483_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"679\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"https:\/\/openasia.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/23561756_879228322258643_8475993347766105483_n.jpg 679w, https:\/\/openasia.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/23561756_879228322258643_8475993347766105483_n-212x300.jpg 212w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 679px) 100vw, 679px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Secretariat of the <\/span><span class=\"s2\">5<\/span><span class=\"s3\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> edition of the<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> International Women\u2019s Film Festival \u2013 Herat requests filmmakers to send in short or long feature and documentary films the main theme of which should be concerned with women-related issues for the one-week Festival to be held as of <\/span><span class=\"s2\">March 2018<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> in Herat, Afghanistan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>The deadline for submitting the films to the Secretariat is <\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>from November 2017 till end of December 2017.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The <\/span><span class=\"s2\">5<\/span><span class=\"s3\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> Festival is a competition event and the winners will receive the Festival\u2019s Statue. A jury comprising domestic and international filmmakers and critics shall judge the films in two national and international sections.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In the National Films Section, the Festival Statues and other prizes shall be awarded to the best fiction and feature film, best documentary, best animation, best feature director, best documentary director, best film script, best leading female and male actors, best female child actor, best cinematography, best sound mixing and best editing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In the International Film Section, the Festival Statue shall be awarded to the best feature film, best documentary, best short film and best animation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">International Women\u2019s Film Festival \u2013 Herat was founded by Roya Film House <\/span><span class=\"s2\">and Armanshahr Foundation <\/span><span class=\"s1\">in March 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The 3 editions of the Festival were held in the ancient Citadel of Herat<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and the 4<\/span><span class=\"s3\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> edition was held in Gardens of Babur in Kabul<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> and attracted <\/span><span class=\"s2\">more than <\/span><span class=\"s1\">one thousand films from the region and from across the world. A number of renowned national and international filmmakers attended the <\/span><span class=\"s2\">four<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> previous editions of the festival, hundreds of the media covered them worldwide and thousands of people watched a selection of the films. The International Women\u2019s Film Festival- Herat is perhaps the most important cultural event of its kind in the Heart of Asia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Conditions for participation<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The deadline for submitting the films to the Festival Secretariat is <\/span><span class=\"s2\">31 December 2017<\/span><span class=\"s1\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Submitted films should either have been made by female directors or have addressed women\u2019s issues if they have been made by male directors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Participants may send in their films directly by post, email or by sending their URL to the Secretariat at the addresses below. It is to be noted that the Secretariat shall not bear the expenses for sending the films.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The films shall be submitted in any of the HDV, HD, 2K and 4K formats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Participants are required to fill in the enclosed form in full and send it with their films to the Secretariat, otherwise their films shall not be admitted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">One photograph from the film\u2019s director and at least 3 pictures from the film\u2019s posters in JPEG format as well as clips should be enclosed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If you plan to send the films through the Internet, the files should not exceed 2 GB.
