Celebration Week for Human rights Day (Kabul 7-11 Dec 2013)
Round table held on Sunday December 8th, 2013, on the Occasion of 16-day Campaign against Violence Against Women:
Women’s political participation and safeguarding achievements.
Panel: Fawzia Koofi (Parliamentarian Head of committee of Women, Civil society and human rights), Sima Samar (Head of AIHRC), Dr. Alema (Founder of Women’s Political Participation Committee), Roya Sadat (Co-founder of the 1st International Women’s Film Festival-Herat), Heather Barr (Human Rights Watch Afghanistan researcher), Head of session: Zia Moballegh (Specialist in Human rights and Islamic studies)
Second day of Celebration of Human Rights week: Round table on Women’s Political Participation and Preservation of Achievements.
The session was led by Zia Moballegh
Dr. Sima Samar Chairperson of the Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) was one of the panel members.
Members of civil society and Human Rights organization who participated in the event.
Fawzia Koofi, heads the parliament’s Women Affairs, civil society and Human Rights Committee and Dr. Alema, Head of the Afghan Women’s Political Participation Committee also took the floor.
Second day of Human Rights weeks; Armanshahr Exhibition ‘Afghanistan Unveiled’ and distribution of books by Armanshar.
Roya Sadat, President of Roya Film-House and co-founder of the First International Women’s Film Festival- Herat was also a panel member.
Exhibition: ‘Unspoken’, joint work of three female artists.
The second day of Human Rights week ended by screening of the film; Rafia: Mother of Sun.
Programs for celebration week for Human Rights day runs until Wednesday December the 11th, 2013.
