Saturday, 22 October 2016 – During the closing ceremony of “the 4th International Women’s Film Festival – Herat” in Continental Hotel, Kabul, winners of the 4th International Women’s Film Festival – Herat received their awards.

Fourth edition of the “International Women’s Film Festival – Herat” officially opened at Gardens of Babur, in Kabul on Wednesday 19 October 2016 with participation of artists, filmmakers, officials of the national and international organisations and people from different walks of life. Armanshahr Foundation/OPEN ASIA and Roya Film House, founders of the festival, organise the festival annually.

With just four months left for President Obama to close the prison at Guantánamo Bay, as he promised when he first took office in January 2009, we confess that we do not share the optimism of those we know who think the president will finally fulfill his long-unfulfilled promise, as Congress is still almost fanatically opposed to his plans, and it will be difficult to close the prison and move the men to another facility or facilities on the mainland without lawmakers’ support.

When poor countries started producing oil, they thought that was the key to economic growth and prosperity. Since then, the impact of resource wealth on producing countries has been the subject of endless debate.
