Sarvar Hosseini was forced to migrate to Iran after the coup d’état in 1978, where he obtained his BA in Persian Literature and also engaged in religious studies. He later obtained an MA in Management in the US and a Diploma in Academic Research and Human Rights in France.

Fakhera Mousavi is a doctoral student in political science at the University of Lyon in France. She offers her views as a woman who has always lived in exile and has had a different experience of life from that of other women of her homeland.

Mohammad Afsar Rahbin is the Cultural Director of the Ministry of Information and Culture. He has written 12 books, both poetry and literature. He is the first Dari-speaking Afghan poet to have written poems in Urdu.

Nilab Mobarez, spokeswoman for the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), has 23 years of work experience in Kabul and France. She is also a surgeon and a professor at the medical school of Kabul.

Mir Ahmad Jouyanda is Deputy Director of the Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit (AREU), Director of the Culture and Civil Society Forum, and a former Member of Parliament.

Tourialay Ghiassi has been a civil society activist, writer, and a political analyst for many years. He studied engineering in the Polytechnic of Kabul. He is the founder and licence holder of Mihan [Homeland] magazine and Eslahat [Reforms].

Kazemiya Mohaqeq is a Professor at Kateb University. She holds an MA degree in international relations and is studying for her PhD in the same field. She has written textbooks on women’s issues, political science, and international relations for the Ministry of Education.

Nader Nadery is the Chair of the Free and Fair Election Forum of Afghanistan and the Director of the AREU. He was studying law and political science at Kabul University during the civil wars and the subsequent seizure of power by the Taliban.

Somaya Ramesh is the director of the Nawandishan Social and Cultural Foundation and an independent candidate in the provincial council’s elections in Herat.

Daoud Naji, a graduate of Persian language and literature from Balkh University, previously taught as an Assistant Professor at his alma mater. With the arrival of the Taliban, he migrated to Pakistan. He is now living and working as a journalist in London.
