2016 Int. Women’s Film Festival Award: Best leading actress Ekaterina Volkova/Russia
During the closing ceremony of “the 4th International Women’s Film Festival – Herat” held in Kabul, Afghanistan on 22 Oct. 2016 the winners of this edition of the festival were announced.
Ekaterina Volkova from Russia was awarded as the best leading actress in the film Value, directed by Olga Shtol, by the international jury.

Despite a pledge from President Ashraf Ghani in a February 2016 letter to Human Rights Watch to “prevent the imprisonment of women accused of running away from their family,” Afghan police and prosecutors continue to engage in the abusive practice.
