Mr Rooholamin Amini (Deputy director of Armanshahr Foundation), moderator of Armanshahr’s 118th Goftegu public debate that was held on 3 July 2013, presented a report on the activities of Armanshahr in the past seven years as follows.

Armanshahr, in collaboration with the Institut français d’Afghanistan (IFA), invites you to the 118th (Year VII) GOFTEGU public debate to celebrate Seven years of perseverance to institutionalise the culture of dialogue and reading.

Jawad Darwaziyan: 118th public debate – Goftegu, a bridge between the elite and the citizens – was held in the hall of French Institute Afghanistan (FIA) on 3 July 2013 to mark 7 years of Armanshahr Foundation’s (AF) operation in Afghanistan.

Armanshahr Foundation held its 117th public debate “Goftegu, a bridge between the elite and the citizens” (7th year) with the title of “Face-to-Face: Elections and young people’s red line” at Allameh Saljouqi Hall in Herat on 13 June 2013.

The 113th Goftegu (Year VII) public debate of Armanshahr concentrated on the presentation of the call for participation of musicians in the 3rd Simorgh peace prize competition. The meeting was held at Ibn Sina Hall in Herat on Tuesday 7 May 2013, where a sizeable number of poets, cultural activists and musicians took part.

The 112th Goftegu (Year VII) public debate of Armanshahr was held with the title of “Commemorating International Book and Children’s Book Days” at the Esteghlal High School’s hall, in cooperation with the French Institute Afghanistan, PEN Afghanistan, and Zaryab Publishing House on 18 April 2013. The first part of the programme was a book fair for publishers where Armanshahr Publications, Ghalam, Saeed and Zaryab displayed their books. Subsequently, Fahrenheit 451, directed by François Truffaut (the famous French director and a pioneer of the new wave of the French cinema) was screened.

Armanshahr Foundation and Roya Film House, headed by Guissou Jahangiri and Roya Sadat respectively, organised “The First International Women’s Film Festival-Herat” at the ancient citadel of Herat, 7-9 March 2013, marking 8 March, the International Women’s Day. More than 1500 people attended. The Festival Secretariat had received 100 films from 20 countries, out of which 10 films from Afghanistan and 25 films from other countries were screened. Several filmmakers from Afghanistan, Iran, Tajikistan and India were guests of the Festival.
