In a letter of 8 November 2013, rasouli20110218053231200 (1)Navi Pillay, UN Human Rights Commissioner states: “I share your concern about any backtracking on gains made with regards to women’s rights in Afghanistan, especially in light of the elections and withdrawal of international forces next year.”

In response to an open letter addressed to Navi Pillay,  by Armanshahr/OPEN ASIA and 27 Afghan human rights, women’s rights and civil society organisations and networks in September 2013 , the Commissioner writes: “I am inspired, however by the perseverance and dedication of Afghan civil society in such a difficult environnement to safeguard the progress achieved in the last 10 years. She further encourages “exchange regarding specific cases or trends of human rights violations” and “looks forward to working with organisations and networks in the coming years to strengthen the protection and promotion of human rights in Afghanistan”.
