Women Chant Peace!
Call for nominations to the 4th Simorgh International Peace Prize
On the occasion of the International Peace Day
21st September 2015
We are publishing the call for the 4th Simorgh International Peace Prize, while flames of war are engulfing the world and countless humans are taking to the sea to flee the demon of war, to seek a shelter and achieve relative calm from fear for food and their lives.
This time, we are aiming to appreciate women who are the real protectors of peace; who are disgusted with war and warmongering and use their initiatives to stand against it; who join hands to bear the suffering in order to show their children, fathers and husbands a different form of living, the basic prerequisite of which is love and its sweet fruit is peace. Why should we be happy? Because, the endeavours of these women are real and display a different form of living, as much as the colourful Simorgh was a myth.
We call on you to nominate these women individually or their collective organised initiatives to enable us to introduce the most powerful ideas and hardest working women to the world encountering them, and to appreciate the endeavours of those women who have risen against injustice and have been forced into hiding throughout the history. With your help, we plan to put on display the power of these women.
Armanshahr /OPEN ASIA is the founder of the Simorgh International Peace Prize, which is awarded to significant cultural and civil initiatives once every 30 months. The prize is specific to the extended geography of Persian-language speakers. In its first edition, we lauded poets and writers who endeavour for peace. The second edition concerned independent publishers who engage in their arduous task to convey awareness. The third edition was allocated to artists and musicians in Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan, who use their art with the objective of drowning the sounds of guns and despotism.
We are now aiming to appreciate women innovators/initiators who are using their ideas and actions to fight the despotic and war-torn world and give us hope to continue the fight to change the unjust relations in the service of equality.
Help us get to know these women or their ideas before 15th October 2015. The winners will be announced on 25th November 2015, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
We keep our eyes open to find you.
