When describing sexual and gender-based violence, word choice is key.

Having the right words to describe and qualify these violences makes it possible to start documentation, advocacy and litigation at grassroots levels. It makes them visible and subject to action.

On the international day for the elimination of violence against women, FIDH invites you to discover their “Glossary on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, from A-to-Z”. This practical handbook strives to explain misunderstood and misused terms, human rights and standards, and kickstart discussions around other relevant terms.

Only by naming what we are talking about can we successfully fight sexual and gender-based violence.

Will you join us in starting the conversation?
